Vision exceeding my reach
I have a short business trip mid-week but things should return to near-normalcy after that.
Dedicated to all things Michigan, past and present. A collection of articles, essays, and stories about the great state of Michigan.
Martian Civil Liberties Union to sue Bush Administration and NASA...
Liberal Martian Attorney Eep Ock Ork Ah Ah, today announced that the Martian Civil Liberties Union plans to sue NASA and the Bush Administration for unlawful surveillance.
Mr. Ork Ah Ah told TRF News, "This despicable activity was not sanctioned by any Earth or Martian Court. These remote cameras should be shut down immediately."
Senator John Kerry plans to take the issue before Democrats. "This is a great find, a new civil rights interest group that needs the assistance of our Party."
"Perhaps we now have an issue to run on," Kerry added.
Sandy Levin loves his trips. The AP fires away.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Jetting off to places like Hawaii, Africa and Europe, Michigan's congressional delegation has taken dozens of privately funded trips valued at more than $300,000 since 2002, according to records reviewed by The Associated Press.
The trips, paid for by think tanks, nonprofit organizations, and trade groups, could be banned under proposals being considered by Congress in the wake of an ethics scandal.
The AP then lists them.
"General Motors Corp. will announce half a billion dollars in investments in five Michigan factories today, creating 200 jobs and underscoring its commitment to the state despite pressing financial difficulties.
At a news conference in Pontiac that will be attended by Gov. Jennifer Granholm, the automaker is expected to outline new investments in its Pontiac Assembly Center and Pontiac stamping plants, an engine plant in Romulus, a transmission plant in Ypsilanti and the ultra-modern Lansing Grand River assembly plant, according to sources familiar with the situation."
"The death of former NHL player Marc Potvin has been ruled a suicide.
The 38-year-old Potvin used a belt to hang himself from a shower curtain rod, police Sgt. Scott Merlo said Friday.
Potvin, coach of the Adirondack Frostbite of the United Hockey League, was found dead Jan. 13 in his Kalamazoo hotel room just hours before his team was to play against the Kalamazoo Wings.
Authorities had ruled out foul play, but were awaiting toxicology test results before announcing a cause of death. The results came back Wednesday, and the medical examiner ruled the death a suicide, Merlo said.
Tests showed that Potvin's blood-alcohol content was 0.15 percent, nearly twice the legal limit for drunken driving in Michigan.
Potvin lived in Glens Falls, N.Y., and in North Canton, Ohio, with his wife, Maria, and their two children. He was in his second full season with Adirondack.
The Detroit Red Wings selected him in the ninth round of the 1986 draft. He played pro hockey for nine seasons, including six in the NHL with Detroit, Los Angeles, Hartford and Boston.
Potvin was a second cousin of NHL Hall of Famer Denis Potvin, a three-time Norris Trophy winner who led the New York Islanders to four Stanley Cups during the 1970s and '80s."
"Part 2 - You know you’re a true MICHIGANDER when…
1. “Vacation” means going up north on I-75
2. You measure distance in hours.
3. You know several people who have hit a deer more than once.
4. You often switch from “heat” to “A/C” in the same day.
5. You can drive 65 mph through 2 feet of snow during a raging blizzard, without flinching.
6. You see people wearing camouflage at social events (including weddings).
Pacers outhustle Pistons
Detroit looks tired after Friday's victory, Indiana's fresher legs are good for a 59-44 rebound advantage.
Chris McCosky / The Detroit News
INDIANAPOLIS -- It seemed the tank might have been running low when Chauncey Billups yawned during pregame introductions. When the Pacers got 14 offensive rebounds in the first quarter, you knew the teams were playing with differing levels of intensity.
The Pistons superior talent never bailed them out."
Sorry for the lapse
The past few days I have been absolutely hammered with work for my business. I'm not complaining mind you, 'cause it's the good kind of busy that will mean significant growth. This current increase in the workload was not entirely expected however and temporarily overwhelmed my hours.
Any who.... mischief managed.

Kid Rock & Bob Seger
Browsing this morning, I saw the Freep has a story about the Kid Rock concert at JLA. Guess who happened to be in the neighborhood? None other than Bob Seger. There is a small photo gallery at the Freep page from the show.
Don't get me wrong. I think it is great that Super Bowl XL is kicking off tomorrow in Detroit. I feel a real pride in my hometown and wish that I lived in the area to take in some of the activities. Winter Blast.....very cool (no pun intended.)
Gotta hand it to Kid Rock and his management team. Two shows during Super Bowl week! Bob Seger appears on stage with Kid! Something for almost everyone.
(Holding my lighter over my head.)

It was here a moment ago
[ Insert missing post here ]
I swear I wasn't dreaming it. I put a short post right here offering a brief explanation for my absence the past few days and I'll be damned if it isn't absent.
This is a placeholder until I can figure out what happened.
Update: I found my email confirming the missing post.

Perhaps it was the Harry Potter reference that erased the post?

In a solid defensive effort, the Detroit Red Wings beat the Colorado Avalanche, 3-0. The Wings had seven successful penalty kills in the game and were unable to capitalize on three power play opportunities. Wings goaltender Manny Legace made 28 saves for the win. He looked incredibly strong today. There were certain instances that I couldn't believe the puck didn't go in the net; Legace had some unbelievable saves. I think Babcock has found his No. 1 goaltender.
